THE HEALING OF REIKI...

THE HEALING SPIRIT OF REIKI

Everyone has the ability to heal themselves and to help others in their healing process. Universal energy flows through all of us. However, this flow of energy can become blocked during periods of stress and illness. Reiki is an immensely simple yet powerful method of healing, using the hands, which can remove these blockages and restore the flow of energy around the body. The spirit of Reiki is challenging and rewarding and can lead you into a journey of spiritual exploration and discovery. This energizing force can empower you to feel as an emotional being, to respond to situations creatively, and to act throughout your life as a channel for good.

WHAT IS REIKI

Reiki is a hands-on healing technique, which is based on the idea of a universal life force. Reiki practitioners believe that it is possible to access this force and use it for healing mind, body and spirit.

UNIVERSAL ENERGY

The concept of a life force has been recognized in many cultures for thousands of years, and similar concepts are used in many other complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and Shiatsu, as well as in physical and spiritual practices, such as tai chi and yoga. In China this life force is known as chi, in Hinduism as prana and by the ancient Egyptians as ka.

The beliefs and practice of Reiki emerged in nineteenth-century Japan and from there were taken to Hawai, California and the western world.

The word Reiki itself is made up of “rei” meaning “universal” in Japanese and “ki” which means “life force”.

The Force of Life
Life force flows through all of us. Reiki healing is simply a means of accessing this energy in a direct and amplified way.

A NATURAL FLOW

Reiki practitioners aim to draw energy from the universal life force that is all around us and then let it flow through their hands and into the person who needs the healing.

By laying their hands on various parts of the body in turn, they transmit energy to help restore its natural flow around the recipient’s body. This also releases any blockages that may prevent the recipients from reaching their full potential. The effect of reiki is not always immediate or obvious, although for some people it can be dramatic and instant. Reiki is thought by its practitioners to have its own inherent wisdom and act as a force that gives people what they need, rather than what they ask for.

FOR EVERYONE

Reiki is not a religion and can therefore be practiced by people of different faiths. Unlike some forms of healing, it has no specific religious dogma associated with it. Instead, Reiki is about encouraging people to have trust in themselves and in the universe.

Accessing Love
Reiki can be defined as a network of love based on universal life energy. It is understood to be given and received in gratitude.

HOW REIKI WORKS

During treatments, Reiki practitioners use specific hand positions that correspond to the physical body, its organs and the seven chakras. The chakras are centers of concentrated energy that vibrate over specific areas of the body. Reiki energy gently balances the chakras and the energy field that surrounds the body, as well as soothing physical and emotional complaints.

THE SEVEN CHAKRAS

Each chakra connects with particular glands and parts of the physical body, as well as specific aspects of emotional and spiritual energy, from the basic survival instinct to the quest for understanding.

Reiki - an introduction

At every stage of human evolution we are given certain tools to help us deal with our problems at that particular time. Life today is more complicated than it used to be. We go through complex and stressful situations. What we are now looking for is something that will help us cope with life and live it as it should be lived; in peace, joy, harmony and abundance.
There is an increasing awareness today that health deals with much more than the physical body. The mind and spirit are equally involved. It is actually "a healthy body in a healthy mind" rather than the other way around. This awareness has led to a search for healing systems that lay emphasis on holistic health. Reiki is one such energy healing system that brings about very positive and extensive changes in our health, general well being and way of life, if practiced regularly.

About Healing Energy

There are many systems of energy healing, hands on and remote healing. They all use aspects of the universal life Force energy that permeates the universe and the entire reality. This Energy is known by many names, Prana, Mana, Chi, KI, Orgone energy, Bioenergetic plasma, Divine breath, Cosmic Pulse, Vital Fire, among them. Even in those systems that call directly on spiritual entities, Angels, Healing guides and so forth, aspects of the universal energy effect the actual healing. Most cultures seem to have at least one name for it even those that do not officially acknowledge it as real. Different cultures develop different ways of working with energy and different needs evoke different frequencies, techniques and explanations for that work.

Introduction to Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is the Japanese word for the Universal Life Energy that permeates and sustains our entire world. There is an infinite source of this energy, creating and supporting all of us, the animals, the planets, plus a whole lot more that is unseen by us. This one uniting energy has been used by many cultures in a variety of ways, for example Tai Chi, Acupuncture and Yoga to name but a few. Forms of the Reiki healing system have been used throughout Japan, Tibet, India and other countries since ancient times. It was Mikao Usui in the mid-twentieth century who re-introduced this ancient healing system in Japan, and now it is becoming increasingly widespread all around the world.

Part of Reiki's growing popularity is that it does not impose a set of beliefs, and can therefore be used by people of any background and faith, or none at all. This neutrality makes it particularly appropriate to a medical setting. Reiki is a completely natural healing method, accelerating the body, mind and spirit's healing process. Reiki healing sessions naturally encourage holistic health and well-being, balance, purpose and spiritual harmony in yourself and others.

Reiki energy is directly connected to the source of our universe and our being, and so is completely linked with Universal Intelligence. This intelligence allows it to focus on the most needed areas of healing completely automatically, thereby suiting the needs of the receiver in the very best way. During the healing sessions you will be placing your hands on the receiver according to traditional methods, but you will not actually be directing the energy to areas within the body. The receiving body directs the Reiki energy to the correct areas, both the exterior bodily symptoms and also the deeper root causes that may exist in the mental, emotional and spiritual connections.

For example the symptom may be a headache but the cause may be stress from a current situation in life. In this case the Reiki would not only help the receiver to release the pain and tension, but also it would help them recognise ways of resolving the stressful situation. In this way, Reiki is a completely transformational method of deep healing. It is important for both you and the receiver to drink plenty of water after the healing. During the healing, both you and the receiver may feel sensations of heat, cold, vibration, tingling, etc. Sometimes the healer and the receiver experience opposites, for example the healer may experience feelings of heat while the receiver experiences cold.

Other times there will be no experiences at all. Whether or not any sensations are experienced during the healing session, you can rest assured that the energy has flowed correctly and effectively. This is one of the amazing and beautiful gifts of using Reiki, due to it's intelligence you can always be sure that the session has been very beneficial to the receiver.
Reiki passes easily through absolutely anything, so it is not necessary to remove any clothing during the healing session. This can also be useful when energy is to be passed through plaster casts, and any other obstacles to direct hand contact.

The receiver doesn't need a problem to be eligible for a Reiki session - it's great for relaxation and overall health and well-being. The vast benefits of regular Reiki sessions are innumerable and completely encompass the entire mind/body/spirit connection, greatly increasing the quality of life in every aspect. Both the healer and the receiver simultaneously benefit from the healing session. The more Reiki sessions you give, the more natural harmony you will experience in your own life. You can even give Reiki sessions to plants and animals.

Unlike spiritual healing methods, Reiki sessions should always involve NO effort from the healer to send or direct energy. This ensures that the body uses it's own intelligence to guide the incoming energy. After you have been attuned to Reiki, healing energy will naturally begin to flow as soon as you place your hands on anyone or anything AND have the INTENT to heal. It will flow completely automatically and always with positive and beneficial effects.
If you start concentrating on sending or directing energy, it will reduce the optimal flow. Greatest success will occur just by allowing it to work by itself. Always remain relaxed and detached from the process.

It is important to remember that with Reiki there is nothing you can do wrong. Reiki will take care of everything. Relax and enjoy! Trust in Reiki.
